Training Review - Weeks 19 & 20

ETU Aquathlon in Pamplona was the first of my 6 internationals this year.  I did what I am currently capable of, given how much I missed last year and my current form. It deserves more of a write up than these two lines, but basically it was a good trip, with lots of good friends, and a half decent, but not all the way decent, race I finished 15th, which is not my worst at this level, but far from my best. I think there is about 2 minutes to find, and just 5 weeks to find it before Worlds in Pontevedra.  I also did my first ever podcast interview, which you will be able to find here in about 4-6 weeks. Training Review - Weeks 17 &18

I got my hip injections done nice and early on the Monday morning. Then had to sit for a couple of hours while the anaesthetic wore off. Having twitched a bit when they went for the big needle I got a second dose of the local, and my quad was asleep for a long time. I had hoped to make a first attempt at my new training plan around work, but having lost Monday to the hospital, and then with other commitments on Tuesday and Thursday and a trip away at the weekend, I had to juggle everything again. And then in the second week I spent 2 days offshore which meant that I still haven't managed to get settled in to a new schedule.  I have managed a sub-20 5k at Perth Parkrun, and a decent Aquathlon performance at Lochside, so the quality session have been in. And having put in a heavy day to finish I have also managed to fill out the numbers and meet all my targets for the whole fortnight.  Both races give me a bit of confidence that I have some sort of form coming with just 10 ...
