Training Review - Weeks 13 & 14
So, I will be posting this one from Dachau in Germany as we begin our first of four International trips this year, and coincidentally from the last week of my unofficial 'unemployment training camp'. I had hoped to get in a decent few months of training before I returned to work, but I have managed to get an ideal job offer already and will be starting as soon as we arrive back in Aberdeen next week.
I have mostly managed to make the best of my unemployment time though. I put in a decent block of cycling, and got out on the mountain bike including a long ride from Dyce to Strichen.
I DNF-ed a 10k race in Elgin, and skipped the first Krunce hill race, with a random hamstring twinge that I didn't want to risk aggravating. That seems to be improving already and I am already back out running on it, albeit carefully.
For now we are in Germany for a wedding and for our only non-race holiday of the year. That means no biking or swimming plans for this week, but I should get decent weather to run in, and I have no real excuse to miss the core, yoga and stretching sessions this week.
I start the new job on Monday, so plans for next week are up in the air at the minute, but hopefully I can build a programme around commuting as much as possible.
